Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has sparked online backlash after making remarks during his unborn child’s gender reveal party that drew criticism on social media.
In a video clip from a livestream shared widely online, the rapper — whose real name is Daniel Hernandez — appeared to tell a group of streamers that he strongly preferred having a son and made controversial comments suggesting he would not want a daughter.
The remarks were made during a celebration with his girlfriend, Aliday Alter, who is expecting the couple’s child.

During the livestream, one of the attendees asked Alter what gender she believed the baby would be. Hernandez then responded with comments that quickly triggered debate and criticism online.
The gender reveal later confirmed that the couple are expecting a boy.
Alter first announced her pregnancy last month through social media, sharing photos showing her baby bump and writing: “My world is about to change.”
Tekashi 6ix9ine, 30, is already a father to two daughters from previous relationships.

The rapper has long attracted controversy, both for his public statements and legal troubles. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to a felony involving the use of a child in a sexual performance. He later received a prison sentence in connection with federal racketeering charges after cooperating with prosecutors in a case involving the United Blood Nation.
In recent years, the musician has also faced additional legal challenges, including a domestic violence-related arrest in the Dominican Republic in 2024.
Filmmaker Karam Gill, who directed a documentary series about the rapper, previously described him as a polarising public figure with a strong ability to provoke reactions online.
