Meghan Markle at Balenciaga Fashion Show
Meghan Markle is easing back into the spotlight — and she’s doing it with humor.
While filming the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios movie Close Personal Friends, the Duchess of Sussex joked about her long break from acting, an insider told People.
“She was joking that she felt a bit rusty,” the source shared. “But it was obvious she had rehearsed, and it was a big deal for her to be back. And she was great.”
The insider added that Markle arrived on set and simply introduced herself as “Meghan,” keeping a low-key presence despite the buzz surrounding her return.

“Everything about her was very sweet and calm,” the source said. “She genuinely seemed excited to be on set. She had a very warm energy and was super pleasant to be around.”
Last week, Markle was spotted filming in Pasadena, California, smiling as she headed into a car for a poolside scene. The 44-year-old looked polished in a blue-and-white button-down shirt paired with white trousers.
In Close Personal Friends, Markle plays a version of herself in a story about a couple who befriends a famous couple. The-star studded cast also includes Jack Quaid, Lily Collins and Brie Larson.

The film marks Markle’s first acting project since stepping away from Hollywood in 2017, following her engagement to Prince Harry. Her last major role was as Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama Suits, where she starred for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018.
She also appeared in Remember Me (2010) and made a cameo in Horrible Bosses (2011), among other projects.
Markle has largely focused on philanthropic work, media production and royal-related endeavors in recent years — but her return to acting suggests a new chapter is beginning.
