Kristin Cavallari is sharing candid details about her past relationship with Nick Lachey, which became a major media spectacle after his highly publicized divorce from Jessica Simpson in 2006.
On the November 26 episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, the Very Cavallari star recalled the intense media attention she received during that time, describing it as a whirlwind experience.
At the time, Kristin was 18 or 19 years old, and Nick’s newfound single status thrust their relationship into the spotlight.
“This was a wild time in my life, because I was, overnight, on the cover of every tabloid,”
Kristin said, recalling how paparazzi would follow her every move. “I had so many paparazzi following my every move, waiting outside of my house.”
Kristin also reflected on the scrutiny she faced as media outlets compared her to Jessica Simpson, accusing her of copying the singer’s style and red carpet poses.
She humorously quipped, “There are like four f–king poses you can do on a red carpet. My hand on my hip? You think I’m stealing her poses?”
The relationship with Nick, which was brief, also taught Kristin some hard lessons about trust and the people around her.
She shared a story about a former friend who sold a photo of her and Nick together at a club for $2,500.
Kristin explained how the friend tricked her into thinking the photo was just of them, but Nick was accidentally captured in the shot.
The image, which was poorly taken, wasn’t even a good photo. “It’s an awful photo, in fact it doesn’t even look like we’re together,” Kristin explained.
This experience was a turning point for Kristin, as she described it as her first real sense of betrayal.
“That was kind of the first real sense of betrayal I felt,” she said. “Like wow, I’m not even safe with people I think are my friends. That was my introduction to shadiness.”
Kristin has been open about her past relationships and friendships.
In addition to her reflections on Nick, she recently shared a DM she received from Scott Disick and opened up about her brief romance with country singer Morgan Wallen.
She also discussed the end of her friendship with Kelly Henderson, which she believes was influenced by rumors about her ex-husband, Jay Cutler.
