
Kibabii University has strengthened its international presence through the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme, which offers students and staff the chance to study and learn in different countries.
On Sunday, January 11, 2026, Mr. Granton Mungau Omuse, a student at Kibabii University, departed for NLA University College in Bergen, Norway, where he will spend a full semester abroad. University leaders formally bid him farewell, encouraging him to represent both Kibabii University and Kenya with distinction.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo congratulated Mr. Omuse on earning the Erasmus+ opportunity, urging him to focus on academic excellence, cultural exchange, and personal growth. He highlighted the importance of international exposure in shaping globally competent graduates.
The send-off also included a warm welcome for Ms. Faith Henzen Masai and Mr. Oscar Kiboi, who recently completed the autumn semester at NLA University College. Prof. Odeo praised their resilience and adaptability in a new academic and cultural environment and encouraged them to share their experiences to inspire other students to participate in international programmes.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Partnerships, Research, and Innovation) Prof. Julius Maiyo congratulated the returning students and praised the Erasmus+ programme for enhancing academic, intercultural, and professional skills. He advised Mr. Omuse to remain open-minded, disciplined, and proactive, and to fully engage in academic activities, build international networks, and document his experiences for the benefit of the wider university community.
Mr. Omuse was accompanied by Dr. Robert Kati, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, and Mr. Onex Opati, Coordinator of the Institute of Gender and Development Studies, who also participate in the exchange programme. Ahead of his departure, Mr. Omuse received a briefing from the returning students and Mr. Opati on academic expectations, cultural norms, student life in Bergen, weather considerations, and practical guidance for adapting to life in a new country.
