Meghan Markle may join Prince Harry in the United Kingdom for the first time since 2022, with a potential visit linked to the upcoming Invictus Games celebrations later this year.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, is expected to travel to Birmingham, England, this summer for the one-year countdown events ahead of the next Invictus Games. While Prince Harry is set to attend, it remains unclear whether Meghan, 44, will accompany him, as the decision is closely tied to ongoing discussions about his security arrangements in the UK.
For most previous editions of the Paralympic-style sporting event, Prince Harry has been supported by Meghan, who has also appeared at several countdown events. The couple attended promotional activities in Vancouver, Canada, in February 2024 and were both present in Düsseldorf, Germany, for the one-year-to-go celebrations in September 2022.

No final decision has been made about Meghan’s attendance at the Birmingham event in July. Sources say a key factor will be whether Prince Harry is granted enhanced, taxpayer-funded security during his time in Britain. A review of his security arrangements is currently underway.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex declined to comment on the matter on January 12.
Prince Harry has repeatedly spoken about his concerns over safety in the UK since he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. In several interviews, he has said he does not feel comfortable bringing his wife and their two children — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4 — to Britain without adequate security.
“Security is always going to be a deciding factor in this,” a source told The Sun on Sunday on January 11.

Harry is expected to return to the UK alone later this month for the start of his latest legal case against Associated Newspapers, which begins in a London court on January 19. He is reportedly due to give evidence early in the proceedings, which are expected to last around nine weeks.

The Duke and his team are still awaiting a decision on whether his full security protection will be reinstated during visits to the UK. While those close to him are said to be cautiously optimistic, citing “positive” signals from the British government, a ruling is not expected before his court appearance.
Meghan was last in the UK in September 2022 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The couple had been in Europe at the time for charity engagements and extended their stay following the monarch’s death.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are being raised in Montecito, California, have only visited the UK once since the family relocated to the United States in 2020, during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.

Prince Harry lost his automatic right to state-funded security after stepping back from royal duties. In May 2025, he lost an appeal to have that decision overturned. Court proceedings revealed that no formal security risk assessment had been carried out for him and his family since 2019.
In October 2025, Harry made a fresh appeal, personally contacting the UK Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, who oversees policing and public safety. His ongoing fight for security has reportedly added strain to his relationship with King Charles, as Harry has expressed belief that the monarch could influence the outcome — a claim Buckingham Palace has repeatedly denied.
