Sydney Sweeney is putting long-running plastic surgery speculation to rest — and offering a candid response to online scrutiny of her appearance.
The Euphoria star, 28, addressed the rumors during a new Allure interview alongside her The Housemaid co-star Amanda Seyfried. The segment invited each actress to debunk a popular beauty rumor, and Sweeney chose to confront claims that she has undergone cosmetic procedures.
“Let’s debunk them all. I’ve never gotten work done,” Sweeney said, adding with a laugh, “I’m so scared of needles, you have no idea.”
The actress, who began her career as a child, also pushed back against viral side-by-side photos circulating on social media that compare images of her at age 12 with more recent red-carpet appearances.
“You cannot compare a photo of me at 12 to one of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting,” she said. “Of course I’m going to look different.”
She added bluntly, “Everybody on social media’s insane.”
Seyfried, 40, joined the discussion by noting that cosmetic procedures can be helpful for some people as they get older — prompting a playful exchange between the two stars. When Seyfried began describing future procedures, Sweeney jokingly interrupted to say she would call her if the time ever came.
“You’ve got to call me,” Seyfried replied. “I’ll give you a little bit of Ativan — but you don’t need it yet.”
The conversation wrapped with Sweeney offering additional clarity for critics. She noted that if she had undergone cosmetic work, her face would look more symmetrical — before explaining that a childhood wakeboarding accident required 19 stitches and left one eye opening slightly more than the other.
Seyfried said she hadn’t noticed the difference, adding that cosmetic work, when done, requires restraint. “You can’t just get it everywhere like a lot of people do,” she said.
Sweeney has previously spoken openly about facing criticism over her looks from a young age. In an October interview with Variety, she recalled being told at just 16 years old to “fix” her face or risk not making it in Hollywood.
“I had someone tell me I should get Botox,” she said. “I was 16.”
She went on to reaffirm her stance, saying she has no plans to pursue cosmetic procedures in the future. “I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing,” she said. “I’m going to age gracefully.”
