Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Embu after his decomposed body was found in his hostel room.
The deceased, George Wangwe, a second-year medical engineering student, had been missing since Friday, November 28.
His body was discovered on Sunday, November 30, after neighbours complained of a foul smell coming from his room.
Reports indicate that the hostel door had been locked from the inside. Police forced entry and found Wangwe lying on the bed with blood oozing from his mouth and nose.
Officers noted blisters on his hands and stomach, and swelling on his face and neck. The body has been taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
In a separate incident, an Austrian national, Markus Ing Gruber, 46, died in his hotel room at Diani Sea Lodge in Kwale County. Gruber reportedly fell inside his room and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He had checked into Kenya with his wife on November 29 and was scheduled to leave on December 20. The body has been preserved at a local mortuary pending an autopsy.
