NCBA Group has named James Gossip as the new Managing Director of NCBA Bank Kenya PLC, marking a key leadership change in the bank’s operations.
In a public notice issued on May 21, 2025, Group Company Secretary Kathryne Maundu announced that Gossip’s appointment took effect on May 12, 2025. She stated that the move follows the successful completion of all required regulatory approvals and is part of the wider board restructuring announced in 2024.
“This appointment follows the receipt of all requisite regulatory approvals and aligns with the strategic realignment of the Bank’s board composition announced in 2024,” Maundu noted in the statement.
Gossip brings over 30 years of global banking experience, having held top leadership roles in Europe, Asia, and North America. His most recent position was Managing Director of the Belt and Roads Initiative and Business Corridors for Asia Pacific at HSBC Global Services Limited in Hong Kong.
Throughout his career, he has held C-suite and board-level roles at major international financial institutions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK) and the Securities and Futures Association (UK).
At NCBA, Gossip is expected to play a key role in strengthening the bank’s relationships with stakeholders, growing the business, enhancing group-wide strategic alignment, and pushing forward the Group’s mission of inspiring greatness across Africa.
“The board congratulates James on his appointment and welcomes him to the NCBA Group,” the notice concluded.
