Shaniqwa Opens Up About Single Fatherhood, Past Struggles, And New Love

Comedian Shaniqwa, who rose to fame at 23, recently opened up about his personal journey as a single father and his plans for the future during an interview with Dr. Ofweneke on Lessons at 30. The entertainer, who is raising his child alone, shared that he is now in a good place both emotionally and romantically, hinting at his plans to remarry soon.

“Right now, I’m in a good relationship. I’m living a good life and in good hands. I thank God,” he revealed, bonding with Dr. Ofweneke over the topic of new love.

However, Shaniqwa’s journey has not been without challenges. Reflecting on his struggles five years ago, he recounted the pain of being a single dad unable to work and watching his world fall apart. “I didn’t deserve it. Everyone has their faults, but I didn’t deserve it, and my son didn’t deserve it. I went through hell,” he said, adding that despite his flaws, the situation felt unjust.

The comedian admitted to ignoring red flags in his past relationship, particularly late-night phone calls that raised suspicions. After losing his job at KTN, his then-partner became the breadwinner, but things began to unravel. He recalled a pivotal moment on his son’s first birthday when his partner received a call and insisted on going to Ruiru. Shaniqwa convinced her to stay, but it was a sign that their relationship was nearing its end.

Despite the hardships, Shaniqwa has chosen forgiveness. “We even chat on Instagram DMs — I hold no grudges. I forgive because if I don’t forgive, who will forgive me for my sins? I’m not a saint,” he said, adding that his former partner could likely share his own faults if asked.
