Martin Shkreli is facing legal trouble once again after claiming to have made multiple copies of the exclusive Wu-Tang Clan album he once owned.
According to ArtNet, a judge has ordered Shkreli to hand over all copies of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, the Wu-Tang album he bought in 2015 for around $2 million.
The NFT collective PleasrDAO, which currently owns the album, filed a lawsuit against Shkreli in June 2024. They alleged that he streamed the album during a “Wu-Tang Official Listening Party” on social media.
The judge ruled in favor of PleasrDAO and instructed Shkreli to turn over all copies of the album to his lawyer within the week.
He must also provide an affidavit stating that no other copies exist, an inventory of all copies he made, a list of anyone who might have a copy, and any money earned from distributing the album.
In 2018, Shkreli had to forfeit Once Upon a Time in Shaolin and all his assets following a securities fraud conviction. PleasrDAO later purchased the album from the government in 2021 for $4.75 million.
Shkreli’s legal troubles have been compounded by his alleged streaming of the album and claims of hidden copies stored in safes worldwide.
Earlier this year, a judge prohibited him from distributing the album. Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man has noted that the album remains a sensitive topic within the group and is not frequently discussed.
