As part of his annual tradition, former President Barack Obama has shared his summer playlist, showcasing his signature blend of genres and artists.
This year’s list spans from contemporary hits to timeless classics, reflecting his broad musical taste.
Released alongside his summer reading list, the playlist features a diverse mix of artists, from viral sensations like Tommy Richman and Paul Russell to iconic names such as Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. True to form, Obama’s selections include everything from neo-soul and Afrobeats to classic rock, offering something for everyone.
Among the highlights are Charli XCX’s upbeat “365,” which aligns with the vibrant summer vibe, and country anthems like Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” The playlist also includes classic tracks like Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” Digable Planets’ “Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat),” and timeless hits from The Supremes and the Rolling Stones.
In addition to these classics, Obama has included a range of Afrobeats tracks such as Rema’s “Yayo,” Tems’ “Love Me Jeje,” and Tyla’s “Jump” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng. The playlist also features some unexpected choices, including Bonny Light Horseman’s “Old Dutch.”
With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to! pic.twitter.com/aL400Ctpde
