ASAP Rocky shared a series of photos and videos on Instagram Thursday in celebration of his and Rihanna’s son Riot Rose’s birthday.
“Happy 1st birthday to my 2nd born son Riot Rose Mayers ❤️,” Rocky wrote in an all-caps caption.
The photos include a shot of Rocky holding Riot Rose and his 2-year-old brother RZA in each of his arms, two screenshots over FaceTime, and a few images of the two spending time together. There’s also a touching video of Riot Rose being held by Rocky, who is clearly enjoying every second of that moment.
ASAP Rocky provided a little bit of parenting advice to Complex earlier this year and kept it pretty simple. “I feel like if you’re not a parent now, just get a pet, and just see how responsible you gotta be,” he said. “Love your fucking children, man. Be present.”
The 35-year-old rapper has embraced the role of fatherhood ever since the birth of RZA, telling Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe that he has become a “full dad.” Rocky confessed that being a father has given him “a whole other perspective,” comparing a return to his kids and Rihanna to coming “home to heaven every day.”
“It’s so unexplainable. It’s just one of those things. I’m a member of our club now, like the dad club. You see a dad, you see me I’m playing on, I’m a full dad now,” he said. “Being outside and working and being creative, it drives more energy for you to obviously think and soak things up like a sponge now that I’m a dad, because I have a whole other perspective.”
“But it honestly helps you get home to your family and get home to your baby,” he continued. “And I can’t even explain it, man. You come home to heaven every day. I’m so thankful. God is good, man.”
Rihanna made waves last year when she could be seen with a baby bump throughout her Super Bowl LVII halftime show performance. She and Rocky welcomed Riot Rose, their second child together, six months later.
