The Kenya Medical Training College has announced plans to introduce customised courses following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Welwitchia University.
In a statement, KMTC said the agreement will create a structured framework for collaboration between the two institutions in education, research and capacity building. The partnership is expected to support the rollout of new academic programmes tailored to specific faculties, researchers and students.
The college said the MoU will also pave the way for the introduction of diploma and certificate courses at Welwitchia University, with technical support from KMTC.
“KMTC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Welwitchia University, Namibia, marking a significant step in advancing academic collaboration and strengthening global health training and research,” the college said. It added that the agreement, signed at the KMTC headquarters in Nairobi, establishes a formal framework for cooperation in key academic areas.
Under the partnership, students from both institutions will share resources such as libraries, laboratories and research facilities. The two institutions will also undertake joint publications and share research findings.
The agreement further provides for the development of context-specific curricula aimed at addressing health gaps within Namibia’s healthcare system. KMTC said the customised training programmes will be aligned with Namibia’s national health priorities.
The MoU was signed on Tuesday, March 3, by KMTC Chief Executive Officer Kelly Oluoch, Namibia’s Council Chairperson Monika Pendukeni and Welwitchia University Vice Chancellor Marius Hedimbi.
As part of the collaboration, KMTC will deploy technical experts to support joint academic initiatives, strengthen health systems and promote leadership development through specialised training programmes.
The signing comes a day after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service reopened its portal for students seeking placement into medical courses at KMTC for the March 2026 intake.
In a public notice, KUCCPS invited students who scored Grade D and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education to apply for various diploma and certificate programmes. The placement service said 31 medical courses under the health sciences cluster are available across KMTC campuses nationwide.
