Timothée Chalamet has made history at the Academy Awards, becoming the youngest male actor to earn three Best Actor nominations.
The 30-year-old star received his latest Oscar nod for his performance in Marty Supreme, marking his third nomination in the Best Actor category. With the achievement, Chalamet surpasses generations of Hollywood stars and continues to cement his place among the industry’s elite.
Chalamet was previously nominated for Call Me By Your Name and A Complete Unknown. Last year, he lost the Best Actor award to Adrien Brody, but has since spoken openly about how awards losses affect performers.
In an interview with Vogue in November, Chalamet admitted that disappointment is natural at award ceremonies. He said many actors feel frustrated when they lose, even if they publicly appear gracious. He also defended his strong work ethic, saying he puts everything into his performances and is not afraid of being called overly ambitious.
Speaking to SiriusXM last year, Chalamet described the experience of losing as “uniquely hilarious,” joking about returning home and tearing up a prepared acceptance speech.

Despite past losses, this awards season has been a strong one for the actor. Earlier this month, he won the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor and also took home the Best Actor trophy at the Golden Globe Awards for Marty Supreme.
The film, which Chalamet has described as being about the pursuit of a dream, has earned him widespread praise. In interviews and social media posts, the actor has said Marty Supreme represents some of his best work to date, highlighting the discipline and commitment he brought to the role.
“This is probably my best performance,” Chalamet said in a recent TikTok video, adding that he wants audiences to recognize the effort he puts into his craft.
At the upcoming 2026 Oscars, Chalamet will compete against Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent), and Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon).
Chalamet now holds the distinction of being the youngest male actor to receive three Best Actor nominations since Marlon Brando, who achieved the feat in the early 1950s. Brando was 29 at the time of his third nomination.
Chalamet celebrated his own 30th birthday in December, thanking fans for their support in a lighthearted Instagram post.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence still holds the overall record as the youngest actor—male or female—to receive three Oscar nominations.
