Is Kamala Harris about to have a Brat summer?
On Sunday, President Joe Biden, 81, announced he dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Vice President Harris, 59, to replace him on the ticket.
With less than 110 days left until Americans hit the polls on November 5, @KamalaHQ, the official rapid response account for Harris’ presidential campaign on X, was updated to match the aesthetic of Charli XCX’s latest album, Brat.
If you weren’t sure, the 31-year-old UK singer released Brat last month and quickly went viral for its neon green artwork and an intentionally pixelated black font for the title.
In the same way that everyone and their mother was wearing pink for the Barbie movie, fans, brands, and even the government of New Jersey are flipping to green aesthetics and embracing a Brat summer.
“kamala IS brat,” wrote Charli on her X account on Sunday night.
This isn’t the only meme Harris’ campaign is leveraging.
Her now-infamous quote, “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you”—which she said during an event last May—has inspired a frenzy on social media that has been taking the internet by storm since earlier this month. The quote got a subtle nod on the response team account’s bio, reading, “Providing context.”
The Vice President’s love for Venn diagrams was referenced in a separate tweet.
Harris’ presidential campaign announced that it raised $81 million in 24 hours since Biden withdrew as the Democratic nominee. The VP touched down in Wilmington, Delaware on Monday to deliver her first remarks on the first full day of the campaign, walking out to Beyoncé’s Lemonade track “Freedom” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
