Robert Cosby Jr.’s Wife Files for Divorce as He Remains in Jail Amid New Criminal Charges

Robert Cosby Jr.’s wife, Alexiana Smokoff, has filed for divorce as the 22-year-old remains behind bars following his latest run-in with the law.

According to People, Smokoff submitted the divorce paperwork on Monday. The couple — who quietly married in 2022 — have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye, despite Cosby Jr.’s connection to “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” through his mother, Mary Cosby.

Court documents obtained by the outlet outline strict conditions for both parties. The petition orders them not to “harass, intimidate, or disturb the peace of the other party by any means, including electronically.” It also prohibits any form of violence, the misuse of the other’s name or identity, or interference with each other’s utilities, services, or insurance policies.

Cosby Jr. was arrested on November 9 and faces multiple charges, including violating a pretrial protective order, criminal trespassing, property damage, assault on a peace officer or military member in uniform, and failing to obey law enforcement commands. He is currently being held at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.

“Robert was slow to recognize that his marriage was over,” his attorney told People on Wednesday. “He continued to make contact with his ex-wife in an effort to reconcile. He now realizes the relationship is over, and he must move on.”

The attorney added that during a Tuesday court hearing, Cosby Jr. “took responsibility for the mistakes he has made and the pain he has caused his ex-wife and her family.”

Representatives for Cosby Jr. and Mary Cosby have not yet responded to requests for comment.

This is not his first legal incident in recent months. In September, Cosby Jr. was arrested after allegedly trying to enter his father-in-law’s home through a dog door. Reports claim he assaulted someone outside the residence and later failed to comply with officers. He was charged with criminal trespassing, assault, failing to stop at the command of law enforcement, and multiple counts of violating a court order.

Mary Cosby previously addressed the September arrest, telling People that although she initially felt “hurt,” “devastated,” and “worried,” she believed the incident ultimately served as a wake-up call for her son. “Some things happen for a reason to show you the path you’re on,” she said. “I feel like he needed that and that he understands that that’s the wrong journey.”

On a November 2024 episode of “RHOSLC” Season 5, Cosby Jr. opened up about struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Both he and Smokoff later sought treatment, but court documents suggest he recently failed to prove completion of a court-ordered rehab program — contributing to his ongoing legal troubles.
