GloRilla is ready to show a new side of herself. The Memphis rapper revealed this week that she plans to release a fully R&B-focused album in the future, marking a major shift from her signature hard-hitting rap sound.
On Wednesday, the “Typa” hitmaker took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news, writing that she “will be doing [an] rnb album.” She didn’t clarify whether the project will serve as the follow-up to her 2024 debut album Glorious, but the announcement has already sparked excitement among fans.

Though best known for her booming, energetic rap delivery, GloRilla is no stranger to R&B collaborations. She has previously teamed up with Kehlani on “Xmas Time,” T-Pain on “I Luv Her,” and British girl group FLO on “In My Bag.”
She also ventured into inspirational music in 2024 with “Rain Down On Me,” her gospel collaboration with Kirk Franklin, Maverick City Music, Kierra Sheard, and Chandler Moore. The track earned her first BET Award in the Best Inspirational category.
As she gears up for her next project, GloRilla told XXL that she wants to take her time perfecting her sophomore album, expected to drop next year. “I have a lot of good music, but I want it to be perfected to where I want it,” she explained. “That’s why I gave this year a rest… to get all the way in the mode.”
Her artistic evolution comes during a major award season moment. Earlier this month, GloRilla scored three Grammy nominations for 2026: Best Rap Album for Glorious, and two nominations for Best Rap Song — one for her solo single “TGIF,” and another for “Sticky,” her collaboration with Tyler, the Creator, Sexyy Red, and Lil Wayne.
Fans will find out if she takes home any trophies when the 68th Annual Grammy Awards air live from the Crypto.com Arena on February 1, 2026.
