Usher has launched a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against one of his longtime producers and several entertainment industry figures over a loan connected to a restaurant project in Atlanta that never opened.
According to court documents filed on Nov. 14, the R&B superstar claims that producer Bryan-Michael Cox—the hitmaker behind classics such as “U Got It Bad” and “Burn”—approached him in 2024 to invest in a new restaurant and lounge called Homage ATL.
Also named in the lawsuit are entertainment lawyer Alcide Honoré and industry executives Keith Thomas and Charles Hughes.

Usher states in the filing that he declined to invest directly in the business, but agreed to loan the group $1.7 million, which he wired in January. However, months later, the property intended for the restaurant still had not been purchased, prompting the singer to request a full repayment.
He alleges that he received $1 million back in August, leaving an outstanding balance of $700,000.
The lawsuit says Honoré told Usher that repaying the remaining amount was “not that easy” because the money had been used for “other purposes.” Usher claims he has not been given any detailed explanation about how the funds were spent.
The Grammy winner is now seeking $4.9 million in damages, equivalent to $700,000 for each of the lawsuit’s seven claims.
Beyond the legal battle, Usher also made headlines this week in a conversation with TMZ, where he hinted at plans to launch his own clothing line — and revealed that he would love to see Metallica perform at a future Super Bowl.
