Liev Schreiber, the acclaimed star of Spotlight and Ray Donovan, was hospitalized in New York City on Sunday after experiencing a “massive headache,” TMZ reports.
According to insiders, the actor’s doctor ordered that he be immediately checked out and stay overnight for observation. Schreiber underwent a series of tests, though sources confirmed he was able to walk and talk without difficulty.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Liev went into the hospital for testing and as of this afternoon, he has been cleared to return to work,” his representative told TMZ Monday night.
The Tony Award-winning actor has enjoyed a celebrated career, starring in films such as Scream, Isle of Dogs, Spotlight, and A Small Light. He is perhaps best known for portraying the complex fixer Ray Donovan in the seven-season Showtime series from 2013 to 2020. Most recently, he appeared as Tag Winbury in Netflix’s 2024 drama The Perfect Couple, starring alongside Nicole Kidman.

On the personal front, Schreiber married Taylor Neisen in July 2023, and the couple welcomed their first child, Hazel Bee, the following month. He is also the father of Sasha, 18, and Kai, 16, from his previous relationship with actress Naomi Watts. The former couple, who dated for 11 years before splitting in 2016, have remained close, even reuniting for Sasha’s high school graduation in June.
Schreiber and Watts posed happily alongside their respective partners at the graduation, showing a united front despite their split. Watts married actor Billy Crudup in 2023, two years after they began dating.
