The overzealous fan who stormed the yellow carpet and grabbed Ariana Grande during last week’s Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore has now been sentenced to nine days in jail, according to The Straits Times.
The court ruled that the actions of 26-year-old Australian national Johnson Wen were deliberate and premeditated, concluding that he planned the disruption to create viral social media content. Prosecutors described him as a “serial intruder,” noting his pattern of inserting himself into celebrity events.
“You seem to be attention-seeking, thinking only of yourself, and not the safety of others,” the judge said, adding that Wen had carried out similar stunts in the past without facing serious consequences. This time, however, he pleaded guilty to being a public nuisance.

The chaotic incident, which quickly went viral, unfolded at Universal Studios Singapore, where Grande, 32, appeared with her Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. As photographers captured the cast’s arrival, Wen suddenly leapt over a barricade and rushed toward the singer, throwing an arm around her as he bounced excitedly for the cameras.
Grande and Yeoh appeared visibly shaken, but Erivo reacted instantly — stepping between the pop star and the intruder, grabbing his shoulders, and pushing him back until security officers dragged him away. The crowd erupted in shock and boos as the man was removed.
After the arrest, Wen celebrated the encounter on Instagram, posting about his physical contact with the star. His social media history shows him posing with several major artists, including Katy Perry and The Weeknd, suggesting a long-running pattern of boundary-crossing behavior.

Despite the frightening moment, Grande was comforted by her castmates and continued with the premiere after a brief pause. The remainder of the event proceeded smoothly, though many fans described the scare as “intense” and “unsettling.”
“It was definitely a Wicked scare,” one attendee remarked after the dust settled.
