High Court Judge Justice Daniel Ogolla Ogembo was found dead in his home in Siaya Town, police confirmed.
The 57-year-old Siaya Resident Judge’s cause of death is yet to be determined.
Justice Ogembo worked throughout the day on Tuesday, July 16, before returning home alone.
His driver, who had dropped him off, became concerned when he received no response to calls and texts the following morning. Upon entering the residence, the driver found Justice Ogembo’s body lying on the bed.
According to police reports, the driver mentioned that Justice Ogembo had complained of throat pain on Tuesday evening.
Authorities responded to the scene and waited for the family to arrive before processing the location. The body was subsequently moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
Justice Ogembo’s death comes just days after the passing of another judge, Justice David Majanja, who died following a surgical complication.
News of Justice Ogembo’s death broke as other judges, friends, and relatives attended a requiem mass for Justice Majanja.
Chief Justice Martha Koome is expected to issue a statement regarding the incident.
