Isla Fisher Opens Up About Her Fresh Start in London After Divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen

Hollywood actress Isla Fisher is embracing a new chapter of independence and calm as she settles into life in London following her divorce from comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen.

In an interview with Elle Decoration, the Wedding Crashers star offered a rare glimpse into her personal life, revealing that she was deeply emotional when the furnishings for her new home arrived — a moment that marked her first real step into life as a single woman.

“When it all arrived, I did have a bit of a cry because this was my first time as a single woman, being in a home of my own,” Fisher said.

The actress, 49, moved into her new residence after what she described as a challenging period — coping with the death of her father in 2023 and the end of her marriage to the Borat creator.

“Trying to create a new life from a grassroots level, at least emotionally, has been challenging, but deeply rewarding,” she shared. “I’m enjoying this new version of my life.”

A New Home and a Quieter Life

Fisher, who once split her time between Australia, Los Angeles, and the UK, said her London home has become her sanctuary — a place centered on peace and family.

“I don’t need to party in my house anymore,” she admitted. “I love to get in the bath, light some candles, bring in my laptop and put on something on Netflix. That’s as exciting as it gets.”

The Confessions of a Shopaholic actress also confessed that her bedroom has become her favorite space, describing it as her “place of peace.”

“I love to be in bed,” she said with a laugh. “It’s sometimes the only place to get peace!”

Fisher shares three children with Cohen, 54, and says her family remains at the center of her new life. Her home, she explained, was designed to keep her children close — literally.

“I wanted the kids’ bedrooms on my floor so that I can monitor smartphone use,” she said, adding that she also made sure to include “space for my family who live in Greece and visit me a lot.”

Outdoor space, she said, was also essential:

“With the Australian upbringing I was lucky enough to have, I’ve always been barefoot in the garden or on the beach, so this is as close as I can get to feeling like I’m home.”

Moving Forward After Divorce

Fisher and Cohen announced their separation in a joint social media statement in 2024, after more than two decades together.

“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage,” the pair revealed. “We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children.”

Their divorce was finalized in June 2024, marking the end of one of Hollywood’s most private celebrity unions.

In a July interview with Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Fisher reflected on the transition and how she’s finding new energy in her independence.

“I’ve had a tough couple of years, but I’m making it through,” she said. “I’m really excited for the next chapter.”

The actress said the separation has allowed her to rediscover her professional ambitions after years of prioritizing family life.

“I’m refocusing on my career, because previously I was very much focused on my kids, which I still am, obviously, because they’re my true love,” she explained. “But I’m enjoying tackling work again.”

Fisher said she is learning to redefine her sense of self outside of marriage.

“I’m trying to remind myself of my new identity as somebody outside of a partnership and to stay as buoyant as possible,” she said. “Any time there’s change, it’s hard to adapt. But hopefully I’m doing an okay job.”

From Now You See Me to Wedding Crashers, Isla Fisher has built a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most charming comedic talents. But today, she’s focused less on fame and more on balance — building a calm, nurturing home in London, cherishing her children, and rediscovering her joy in simplicity.

Her reflections paint a portrait of resilience and reinvention — a woman who’s learning to stand on her own after years in the spotlight as one-half of a famous couple.

“Trying to create a new life has been challenging,” she said, “but deeply rewarding.”
