Orlando Bloom has sparked fresh headlines after being photographed with actress Rachel Lynn Matthews, who dressed as his ex-fiancée Katy Perry for Halloween.
In images shared on Matthews’ Instagram Stories, Bloom, 48, appeared in a skeleton costume, posing with his arm around the Happy Death Day actress, who wore a blue bodysuit and black wig — a look strikingly similar to Perry’s outfit from her Blue Origin space mission.
Matthews even recreated Perry’s viral photo of kissing the ground after returning from her space flight, captioning her post, “Take up space!”
The playful moment comes just months after Bloom and Perry officially ended their relationship. Reps for the pair confirmed their split on July 3, following reports in late June that they had called off their engagement.
The two share a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, and have both emphasized their commitment to co-parenting.
A source close to the former couple told PEOPLE at the time, “Katy has every intention of maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with Orlando. He’s the father of their daughter, and that will always come first for her.”
The insider added that while they’ve decided to part ways, there remains “mutual respect” and open communication between them.
Despite their breakup, Bloom and Perry continue to move in similar social circles.
They share a friendship with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos, both of whom have connections to Perry’s Blue Origin mission earlier this year.
Bloom also attended Bezos and Sánchez’s wedding in Venice, Italy, in June.
While Perry has stayed relatively private about the reasons behind their split, Bloom addressed it publicly during an appearance on NBC’s Today Show on September 5 while promoting his film The Cut.
When asked about the changes in his personal life, the actor responded warmly, “I’m great, man. I’m so grateful. We have the most beautiful daughter. … We’re great. We’re going to be great. Nothing but love.”
Fans have speculated that Perry’s emotional new single, “Bandaids,” reflects her perspective on the end of their nine-year relationship.
The song’s lyrics and accompanying music video suggest themes of heartbreak, disappointment, and acceptance. In one verse, she sings:
“Hand to God I promise I tried / There’s no stone left unturned / It’s not what you did / It’s what you didn’t / You were there but you weren’t.”
In the video, Perry accidentally drops her engagement ring down a kitchen sink, symbolizing the finality of their relationship, before enduring a series of near-death mishaps — a darkly humorous metaphor for resilience after heartbreak.
Since their split, Perry has been focusing on her Lifetimes Tour, where she recently confirmed to fans in Prague that she’s “dating someone else.” The pop star has also been seen spending time with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, sparking curiosity among fans about her new relationship status.
Meanwhile, Bloom’s Halloween outing with Matthews — who appeared to playfully channel his ex — has reignited interest in both his personal life and his ongoing friendship with Perry.
Though their romantic journey has ended, both stars seem to be embracing new beginnings — with Bloom keeping things lighthearted and Perry turning heartbreak into art.
