Former NBA player Delonte West has found himself back in police custody in Virginia following a troubling incident that raised serious concerns about his well-being.
Authorities confirmed that West was arrested on November 3 after the Fairfax County Police Department responded to a call about an unconscious man on Fair Haven Avenue near Richmond Highway. When officers and EMTs arrived, they discovered the 41-year-old former basketball star breathing but in a highly intoxicated state.

According to police, West was offered medical assistance and the option to be transported to a hospital. However, he refused care. Due to the level of intoxication and concerns for his safety, officers placed him under arrest for his own protection. He has since been released on bond, and officials have not yet determined whether formal charges will follow.
This latest arrest marks yet another troubling chapter in West’s ongoing struggles. Nearly one year ago, the same police department booked him for trespassing after he returned to a property he had previously been banned from. Before that, in June 2024, West was taken into custody for allegedly violating release conditions and resisting arrest. These incidents add to a series of run-ins with the law over recent years.
Delonte West, once celebrated for his talent on the court, played in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks. However, after stepping away from professional basketball, he has faced ongoing battles with mental health, substance abuse, and homelessness — struggles that have sparked widespread public concern and calls for continued support.
As of now, it remains unclear whether West will face additional charges stemming from this latest incident.
