The breakup of the YBN collective just took a dramatic new turn. YBN Nahmir is disputing Almighty Jay’s recent claim that the group fell apart because Nahmir began spending time with gang members after moving to Los Angeles.
In a video shared on TikTok, Nahmir directly addressed the comments, insisting the real story behind the group’s split is far more serious than what Jay suggested.
“If you gonna say that, let me say what it really is then,” Nahmir said. “YBN broke up because Nahmir was hanging around gangbangers? No. YBN broke up because you did some foul ass shit, and almost got my mom killed, and I ain’t say nothing about it on the Internet until now.”
The “Rubbin Off the Paint” rapper did not go into further detail on the alleged incident, but his statement immediately intensified public speculation about what went wrong within the once-tight trio.
Almighty Jay responded shortly after, referencing his own past hardships — including a widely-reported attack earlier this year in which he was pistol-whipped and robbed at a recording studio. Jay suggested Nahmir was “bringing up stuff from 2019,” saying he was young at the time and “moving like a goofy.” He did not directly address the allegation involving Nahmir’s mother.
The YBN collective — originally YBN Nahmir, Almighty Jay, and YBN Cordae — first gained viral fame in the late 2010s before officially splitting in 2020. Cordae removed “YBN” from his name as his solo career took off, while Nahmir and Jay’s friendship seemed to fade amid scattered online disputes.
