Cher is reminding the world that love doesn’t come with a rulebook — or an age limit.
In a new interview on CBS Mornings that aired Tuesday (Nov. 4), the 79-year-old music legend spoke openly about her relationship with boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards, 39, and once again dismissed criticism about their 40-year age difference.
“Whatever,” Cher said with a shrug when asked about public comments. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
The Believe singer said that Edwards constantly reminds her that growing older doesn’t mean losing your spark. “Thank God, he just says, ‘You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger.’”
Cher described Edwards as incredibly gifted and someone who brings joy into her life. “He’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. We laugh all the time, and I just love him.”

She also shared that she has bonded with Edwards’ six-year-old son, Slash, whom he co-parents with model Amber Rose. “He’s so funny. He’s so smart. He’s a delight,” she said, adding that she once joked about wanting “a toddler and a man” — and now she has both.

The couple were last spotted out together on October 10 at the opening of Alan Faena’s new hotel in New York City, where they arrived hand-in-hand and were described by eyewitnesses as “very much in love.” Cher even served her own “Cherlato” ice cream flavor to guests at the event.
Cher and Edwards first went public in late 2022, appearing on red carpets and showing affection openly. They briefly split in mid-2023 but reunited later that year — and have appeared inseparable since.
Speaking last year to People, Cher admitted she initially hesitated about dating someone so much younger. But she said Edwards’ kindness and humor won her over.
“No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun,” she said. “What I learned is that it’s never too late.”
And now?
The pop icon seems perfectly content — and unbothered.
As she told CBS: “They may have opinions, but I have my life — and I love it.”
