Oppo’s Next Foldable Targets Samsung With Bigger Battery and Slimmer Design

Oppo appears to be gearing up for the launch of its next flagship foldable, the Oppo Find N6, and early leaks suggest it could become one of the most competitive book-style foldables on the market — especially against Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Find N5, released early last year, quickly earned praise for balancing sleek design with strong performance. It packed a large battery, dual displays, and impressive cameras into what was, at the time, the thinnest form factor in its class. Although that record was later surpassed by Honor and Samsung, the Find N5 remains one of the best foldables available — even if Oppo kept it limited to only a few regions.

Now, leaked details of the Find N6 indicate that Oppo is refining rather than reinventing the design, but in meaningful ways. According to prominent leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Find N6 will feature a 6.6-inch outer display and an 8.1-inch inner folding display — similar sizing to the Find N5, but reportedly even thinner and lighter overall.

Under the hood, the device is expected to run Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, pushing performance beyond this year’s flagship standard. The battery is rumored to be the biggest upgrade: Oppo is apparently targeting a 6,000 mAh cell. That would make it one of the largest batteries ever put in a thin, book-style foldable — and significantly bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s expected 4,400 mAh capacity. Even compared to the already strong 5,600 mAh battery in the Find N5, the upgrade is notable.

Camera improvements also seem to be on the way, including a 50MP main shooter using Sony’s LYT808 sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Meanwhile, the device may introduce customizable hardware buttons — a shift similar to the adjustable action button seen recently on Oppo and OnePlus devices.

Wireless charging, side-mounted fingerprint authentication, and the same level of water resistance seen in the previous model are all expected to remain.

So far, Oppo hasn’t confirmed when the Find N6 will launch. If the company follows last year’s timeline, an early-2025 debut seems likely — though it remains to be seen whether the foldable will finally get a wider global release.
