The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing to move into their new family home, Forest Lodge in Windsor, with their three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — by early November.
According to reports, the royal family hopes to settle into the eight-bedroom house on the Windsor Great Park estate just in time for Guy Fawkes Night on November 5, a British holiday celebrated with fireworks, bonfires, and parties.

When the couple first announced their move from Adelaide Cottage, palace sources had indicated they expected to be in their new home by Christmas. However, renovation work has progressed faster than planned, allowing for an earlier move-in date. The Daily Mail reports that a 150-acre security perimeter has already been established around the property with approval from the Home Office, and staff have begun transporting belongings.

Princess Kate, 43, has been busy furnishing the new residence, while Prince William, also 43, prepares to travel to Brazil from November 3 to 7 for his Earthshot Prize event and the COP30 climate conference in Rio de Janeiro and Belém. Kate is expected to remain in Windsor with their children, who are currently on mid-term break from Lambrook School.
Forest Lodge is a notable upgrade from the family’s current four-bedroom home at Adelaide Cottage. Despite the move, the royal couple will continue their tradition of not having live-in staff and are personally funding the relocation while paying market rent to the Crown Estate.

The move also represents a fresh start for the Wales family after what friends describe as some of the most challenging years of their lives. Within weeks of moving into Adelaide Cottage in 2022, they mourned the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, which occurred a day after their children began classes at a new school.
In early 2024, both Princess Kate and King Charles III were diagnosed with cancer — a difficult period that William later described as “brutal.” While Kate announced in January 2025 that she is now in remission, the King, 76, continues to receive treatment. In a recent interview with actor Eugene Levy on The Reluctant Traveler, William admitted that “worry or stress around the family side of things does overwhelm me quite a bit… it’s more about feeling, it’s more about upsetting the rhythm.”
Sources close to the family say living at Adelaide Cottage gave them a chance to experience life in Windsor and decide whether it suited them — a decision that has now been firmly confirmed. The couple reportedly view Forest Lodge as their “forever home,” even planning to remain there once William becomes king.
Their trusted nanny, Maria Turrion Borrallo, along with other household staff, will reside in smaller cottages nearby on the estate. The family will also continue to divide their time between their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, and their London residence, Kensington Palace.
