Actor Josh Hartnett was taken to hospital in Canada after being involved in a car accident with a police vehicle last week.
The 47-year-old star was returning home after filming a new Netflix series when the SUV he was in collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol car, according to Canadian broadcaster CBC.
Police said the crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. on September 25 at an intersection. Both vehicles were badly damaged. Hartnett and the 59-year-old driver of the SUV were taken to hospital with minor injuries, while the police officer involved was also checked as a precaution. Authorities confirmed that the case is under investigation.

Hartnett has been in Newfoundland since August filming a new Netflix limited series. The show follows a small Canadian town threatened by a mysterious sea creature, with Hartnett playing a fisherman who fights back. The series also stars Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes, Rohan Campbell, and Kaleb Horn. Netflix has not yet announced a release date.
The actor, who lives in the UK with his wife Tasmin Egerton and their four children, is known for keeping his private life out of the spotlight. During a rare interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this year, he joked about being the only American in his household, saying his kids love to tease him about it.
Hartnett rose to fame in the early 2000s with roles in films like Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down. He later stepped back from Hollywood, saying in 2021 that focusing on family life and keeping “Hollywood at bay” was the best decision for his mental health.
In recent years, he has made a comeback, appearing in Oppenheimer and more recently filming Verity alongside Dakota Johnson.
