Country music legend Dolly Parton is pressing pause on her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency due to health issues.
The 79-year-old singer shared the news with fans on Instagram Sunday, explaining that doctors have advised her to undergo a few medical procedures.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” she wrote. “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”
Always one to lighten the mood, Dolly joked that it was time for her “100,000-mile check-up,” clarifying that it had nothing to do with plastic surgery. But she stressed that she wants to deliver the kind of show her fans deserve — and for that, she needs to focus on her health first.
“Fans pay good money to see me, and I want to be at my best for you,” she added. “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
The limited-run residency, Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, was set to kick off in December at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. It would have marked Parton’s return to Vegas after several years.
This isn’t the first time the “9 to 5” star has had to adjust her schedule recently. Earlier this month, she pulled out of an appearance at her Dollywood theme park due to kidney stones and an infection. In a video message at the time, she reassured fans, saying, “Don’t worry about me, I’m gonna be OK. Just can’t do it today.”
Parton has also been grieving the loss of her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in March after nearly six decades of marriage. In July, she revealed she was taking a step back from music to cope with her loss.
Despite the setbacks, Dolly’s message to fans remains clear: she’s not done yet. “I love you and thank you for understanding,” she concluded.
