Kenyans to enjoy free entry to national parks on September 27

Kenyans will have a chance to visit national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) for free on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

The announcement comes as the world prepares to mark the United Nations World Tourism Day, which is celebrated every year on September 27. This year’s theme is “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano said the government is giving Kenyans free access to celebrate the special day and encourage more appreciation of the country’s natural heritage.

“To honor this significant occasion, I am thrilled to announce that the Government of Kenya is offering free entry to all Kenyan citizens to visit Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)-managed national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries on Saturday, September 27, 2025,” Miano said in a statement.

She added that the initiative is meant to allow Kenyans to reconnect with wildlife, deepen their commitment to conservation, and experience the country’s natural beauty.

“By opening the gates to these iconic spaces, we aim to foster a greater appreciation of Kenya’s rich biodiversity and inspire a shared responsibility to protect it for generations to come,” she said.

Kenyans are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to explore and learn more about the country’s wildlife, which the CS described as “not just Kenya’s pride but the world’s heritage.”

For guidelines on free entry, citizens are advised to visit the KWS website (www.kws.go.ke), follow KWS social media pages, or call the toll-free number 0800597000. Inquiries can also be made through the KWS WhatsApp customer number 0726610509.
