Billionaire Elon Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian Wilson, has opened up about her finances as she builds her own career in modeling and entertainment.
Speaking at the Teen Vogue 2025 Summit on Saturday, the 21-year-old said she no longer relies on family money. “I’m financially independent. I’m making money now. Pre-Teen Vogue [cover], no. People have a lot of assumptions, and you just kinda have to deal with that,” she said.
Wilson appeared on the magazine’s March cover, where she admitted she had not earned anything from her famous last name. “I haven’t made any money from being famous at all. I have made zero dollars and zero cents. I do live in a lot of people’s heads rent-free, though,” she joked.

While Wilson first dreamed of becoming a model, she once considered streaming on Twitch before deciding her “absolute dream” would be to star in a reality show.
Earlier this month, she also told The Cut that many assume she is wealthy, but in reality she shares a home with several roommates to save money. “I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal. My mom is rich, right? But, obviously, the other one is unimaginable degrees of wealthy,” she said, referring to her father.
Wilson, who is transgender, has been making her mark in the fashion and performance world this year. She made her runway debut in May at a RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 10 event in New York City. She later performed in Pattie Gonia’s “Save Her!” drag show in Los Angeles, writing on Instagram, “AHHHH I’m so excited.”
In September, she walked in New York Fashion Week at designer Alexis Bittar’s “Miss USA 1991” event, wearing a “Miss South Carolina” sash to highlight states where trans rights are under attack.
Vivian is one of six children Musk shares with his ex-wife, Justine Wilson, whom he was married to from 2000 to 2008.
