A Florida woman who was accused of having sex with her teenage stepson has been sentenced to prison.
Alexis Von Yates, 35, was arrested in November 2024 after her husband allegedly caught her with his then-15-year-old son. The incident reportedly took place in July while the boy was visiting his father for the summer.
Yates was first charged with sexual battery on a minor between 12 and 18, but later reached a plea deal. She pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of lewd and lascivious battery in August this year.
On Tuesday, a judge sentenced her to two years in prison, followed by two years of community control and 10 years of sex offender probation. She must also complete 200 hours of community service and is banned from contacting the victim.
Prosecutors said the plea deal was supported by the victim’s family, who wanted to avoid forcing the teen to testify in court. His mother told the judge that both she and her son agreed to the deal because testifying could harm his mental health.
At the hearing, the victim’s mother addressed Yates directly, calling her a “coward” and an “incestuous pedophile” who showed no remorse for her “despicable actions.” She accused Yates of abusing her position of trust to groom her son.
Court documents revealed disturbing details about the case. The teen said his stepmother made repeated sexual jokes in the weeks leading up to the incident. On the night in question, the two allegedly vaped, played video games, and watched a horror movie before things escalated.
According to the affidavit, the boy’s father came home unexpectedly and caught his wife half-dressed as his son ran to the bathroom. The teen later told investigators that Yates admitted she wished her husband hadn’t walked in and even compared his appearance to his father’s when he was younger.
