Actress Amanda Seyfried is facing widespread criticism after describing the late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk as “hateful” following his killing in Utah last week.
The 39-year-old Mean Girls star commented under an Instagram post highlighting Kirk’s controversial views on abortion, immigration and race. In response, she wrote: “He was hateful.”

Seyfried later shared a text post on her Instagram Stories that read: “You can’t invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating,” which many online users interpreted as suggesting Kirk incited his own death.
The remarks sparked anger on social media, with some users vowing to boycott her work. One wrote on X: “Amanda Seyfried believes Charlie Kirk assassination was justified. Make sure to never see another one of her movies.” Others accused her of being hypocritical.
Kirk, 31, was shot dead on September 10 while speaking on stage at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.” He leaves behind his wife, Erika, and their two children.
