Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a touching message after consoling a young mascot before Portugal’s match against Armenia.
The emotional moment happened on Saturday night just before kick-off. Cameras captured Ronaldo comforting the young fan, who appeared overwhelmed while walking out with the team. Portugal went on to beat Armenia 5-0 in their first competitive match since the death of Liverpool star Diogo Jota.
Ronaldo scored twice, with his first goal coming in the 21st minute — the same number Jota wore for Portugal. After the game, coach Roberto Martinez said the goal was symbolic, adding that “Jota is with us.”
Following the match, Ronaldo posted a video of the moment with the young mascot on his X account. He captioned it: “I made a new friend yesterday. Grateful for the love and support every single day and I hope everyone gets to follow their dreams!”
The Portugal captain’s two goals against Armenia bring his career tally to 941, showing he remains a dominant force in football while still taking time to inspire young fans.
