Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is facing fresh scrutiny after claims that his players have grown tired of his leadership.
Guardiola, who has been at the helm since 2016, has delivered six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and several domestic cups. However, City missed out on silverware last season and have started the new campaign poorly, with just three points from their opening games, leaving them 13th in the table.
Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys said in his blog that Guardiola may no longer inspire the same energy at the club.
“I think he looks tired. I think he looks bored. And I think his players might just be bored of him. They perhaps want to hear a new voice around the place,” Keys wrote.
He pointed to Jack Grealish’s move to Everton as an example, saying the midfielder appears revitalized after leaving City.
Despite the criticism, Guardiola has time to turn things around, with City strengthening their squad by signing Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during the summer transfer window.
