Pop star Katy Perry is silencing her critics after her latest tour recorded massive success.
Her management confirmed that Perry has already sold 1.1 million tickets and earned over $80 million (about Sh12.2 billion) from the “Lifetimes” tour. The earnings came from 45 shows across the United States, Canada and Australia.
The figures shared with Billboard show that the amount does not include upcoming shows in Latin America, Europe and China, meaning her earnings are likely to rise further.
Despite the financial success, Perry has faced intense criticism online. Some fans have questioned her space-inspired outfits and choreography, with social media users mocking the performances. One X user asked, “People are paying to see this?” while another wrote, “This looks more like somebody who’s come out of retirement after 30 years.”

Earlier in April, Perry was also ridiculed for joining an all-female Blue Origin space flight alongside Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe and Kerianne Flynn. Celebrities including Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Munn and Jessica Chastain dismissed the trip as wasteful and out of touch.
Perry, 40, later responded to the backlash, saying her haters were “unhinged and unhealed.” Writing on Instagram, she explained: “Please know I am ok. I have done a lot of work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me.”
She added: “When the online world tries to make me a human piñata, I choose to accept it with grace and send my love.”

Her professional win comes at a difficult moment in her personal life. Perry and her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom, confirmed their breakup in July after nine years together. Reports also suggest her rumored relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has cooled off due to busy schedules and unwanted publicity.
