Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Temporarily Moved Due To Guildhall Renovations

A cast bronze sculpture by Barbara Hepworth, Dual Form, has been temporarily relocated from St Ives to Redruth due to renovation works at the Guildhall.

The sculpture, which Hepworth gifted to St Ives in 1968 after being awarded the Freedom of the Borough, had been positioned outside the Guildhall, chosen by the artist herself.

Due to the Guildhall Renewal Project, which includes the creation of a level access entrance and a redesigned portico, Dual Form was carefully moved by the specialist team Sculpture Transport UK to Kresen Kernow in Redruth.

Kresen Kernow, which opened in 2019, is located in the former Redruth Brewery and serves as Cornwall’s archive and records center, housing more than 1.5 million records that span 850 years of the region’s history.

Once the Guildhall renovations are completed, the sculpture is expected to return to its original site in St Ives.
