Katharine McPhee and David Foster are challenging the common aversion to aging. The couple, who share 3-year-old son Rennie, recently celebrated milestone birthdays—Katharine turned 40, while David reached 75—but neither felt daunted by it.
“I welcomed my 40s,” Katharine shared with People in an interview published Nov. 5. “David didn’t have any ‘I can’t believe I’m 75’ moments, and I wasn’t mourning 40.
We’re just kind of both cut from the same cloth, accepting life as it comes.”
David echoed his wife’s laid-back approach, saying, “I don’t even think about it either. I’m just groovin’.”
The couple, married since 2019, has a shared outlook on embracing each phase of life, which has only strengthened their bond.
The two also credit therapy for helping them maintain a healthy relationship.
“A good therapist is key,” Katharine told E! News last year. “Having someone, or even another couple in your life, can help when there’s discord or disagreements.”
She emphasized the importance of self-awareness and learning the language needed to facilitate open communication.
Their shared history in the music industry also fuels their connection.
Meeting years before they began dating, Katharine and David developed a natural ease in working together.
“That’s truly where we know each other best,” Katharine said. “The greatness, the way he works—it’s always about getting the best out of people.”
