French football star Antoine Griezmann has officially announced his retirement from international football, bringing an end to a remarkable career with Les Bleus.
The 33-year-old forward took to Instagram on Monday morning to share the news, concluding a decade-long journey with the French national team that spanned 137 appearances.
Griezmann made his international debut at the age of 22 in a friendly match against the Netherlands and quickly became a key player for France.
Throughout his career, he helped lead the team to several major accomplishments, including winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Nations League in 2021.
At the 2016 European Championship, where France finished as runners-up to Portugal, Griezmann earned the tournamentās top scorer title with six goals.
In terms of appearances, Griezmann ranks third in France’s history, tied with Olivier Giroud, who also recently retired from international duty.
Only Lilian Thuram (142) and Hugo Lloris (145) have played more matches for Les Bleus. Among France’s all-time top scorers, Griezmann finishes fourth with 44 goals, trailing only Kylian Mbappe (48), Thierry Henry (51), and Giroud (57).
With his international career now behind him, Griezmann will focus solely on his club football career, where he remains committed to AtlƩtico Madrid until mid-2026.
His announcement marks the end of an era for France as one of their last active legends steps away from the national stage.
