Hip-Hop Hypeman Fatman Scoop Dies After Medical Emergency

Hip-hop hypeman and media personality Fatman Scoop, born Isaac Freeman III, has tragically passed away following a sudden medical emergency. T

he news was confirmed by his tour manager, according to CT Insider.

The 53-year-old was performing at Town Center Park in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday, August 30, when he fainted on stage. Scoop had been engaging with the crowd, encouraging them to “make some noise,” when he collapsed.

Despite efforts by others on stage to provide CPR and keep the audience entertained, medical help was called to the scene at 8:33 p.m.

Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett confirmed the emergency on Facebook, stating: “Tonight, while performing at Hamden Town Center Park, Isaac Freeman, aka Fatman Scoop, had a medical emergency on stage. He is being transported by ambulance to the hospital. We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”

Heartfelt tributes began pouring in on Saturday morning, August 31, following the confirmation of Scoop’s passing. DJ Tony Neal shared his sorrow on social media, writing, “Unbelievable. #SleepWell Scoop. I was hoping you would pull through. It’s been a rough month.”

Fatman Scoop first gained major recognition with Timbaland and Magoo’s 2001 track “Drop,” which later appeared in the 2004 film You Got Served. His career included hits like “Be Faithful,” Mariah Carey’s “It’s Like That,” and the Missy Elliott and Ciara collaboration “Lose Control.”
