Bebe Rexha has claimed she is the victim of a hate crime that occurred at an airport in Germany.
On Saturday, Rexha posted clips of her crying inside Munich International Airport and mentioning Lufthansa, the flag airline carrier of Germany, in an Instagram post, claiming she was threatened for speaking Albanian with one of the security agents. In the video, Rexha can be seen sobbing and telling the airline that she spoke to the security agent in the language, thinking he was Albanian, but that led to a confrontation where he wouldn’t let her on a flight.
She called the incident a hate crime and claimed the guard mentally abused her, and she didn’t receive any help from female Lufthansa employees.
“@lufthansa I’ve been threatened because I thought the security agent was Albanian,” Rexha wrote in her IG Story. “I spoke to him in Albanian asking where to get my ticket and now he is banning me from the flight.”
She continued in the next slide, “I believe this to be a hate crime because I am Albanian. He would not let me take his name. He continued to mentally abuse me to make me feel like he was more powerful then he was. Not one of the women @lufthansa stepped in or said something. He would not give me his name. But I just found out he works for ATSG a service company document control hiredby Lufthansa.”
According to TMZ, the airline has been in touch with Rexha to investigate the alleged incident thoroughly and claimed Lufthansa is a service that “connects people all over the world” while adding diversity and equal opportunity are the company’s core values. The company also stated it doesn’t abide by discriminatory behavior by its employees.
