Snoop Dogg Performs For Team USA In Celebration Of USA Basketball’s 50th Anniversary

Snoop Dogg took time out of his busy Olympics schedule to hit the stage and celebrate Team USA.

On Monday, Comcast NBCUniversal and USA Basketball hosted “A Celebration of Olympic Basketball” in Paris, France ahead of the Knockout Round games that begin on Tuesday. The event was held at the Team USA House at the Palais Brongniart, the Paris Olympics home of the national team. The event also coincided with the 50th anniversary of USA Basketball.

According to a press release, every member of the 2024 U.S. Men’s and Women’s teams—including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, and Diana Taurasi— was in attendance.

Other notable attendees at the starry event included Carmelo Anthony, Andre Iguodala, Chris Mullin, Gary Payton, Dwayne Wade, and Sue Bird.

One of the night’s highlights included Snoop, 52, taking the stage. While taking a break away from providing priceless commentary in the broadcast booth, Snoop cracked the mic at the Team USA event to perform hits like “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and a cover of Next’s “Too Close.”

Photos circulating on social media show that basketball stars A’ja Wilson, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu, Jewell Loyd, and Breanna Stewart joined him on stage.

The festivities also celebrated major viewership milestones for the Paris Games on NBC and Peacock, with record audiences for both men’s and women’s basketball matches, including the 13 million viewers for the U.S. Men’s match against Puerto Rico. The women’s team also drew larger audiences for their preliminary games compared to the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The U.S. Men’s team will face Brazil on Tuesday with the U.S. Women’s team going up against Nigeria on Wednesday for their respective quarter final matchups.
