The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has announced internship opportunities for young Kenyans seeking hands-on experience in the maritime sector. The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, through a notice indicating that the internships will begin in April 2026.
“KPA is pleased to announce 194 internship and apprenticeship vacancies across various departments, providing young adults with the opportunity to gain practical experience and exposure to real workplace environments,” the authority stated.
The available positions cover a wide range of departments, including Container Terminal Operations (10 slots), Container Terminal Engineering (12), Information Communication Technology, Innovations & Business Process Re-Engineering (12), Port Electrical Engineering (12), Civil Engineering (12), Marine Engineering (12), Safety, Health & Environment (7), Supply Chain Management/Contract Management (9), Human Resource (6), Project Development (12), Commercial/Insurance Services and Corporate Communication (6), Research, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (6), Marketing, Cruise & Customer Experience (3), Administration (6), Ferry Operations (10), Ferry Maintenance (10), Security Services (11), Conventional Cargo Engineering (10), Conventional Cargo Operations (9), Litigation & Disputes (4), and Financial/Management Accounting (10).
Applicants must meet the following requirements: have graduated with a first degree, diploma, or certificate from a recognized institution between January 2023 and December 2025; have not undertaken any internship or work experience related to their field of study since graduation; and must not have retired or exited from formal employment.
