Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence in the United States, according to reports.
The singer, 42, was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County at around 9:28 p.m. local time.
According to inmate records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Spears was booked into custody at about 3:02 a.m. and later released at 6:07 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Entertainment outlet TMZ was the first to report the arrest. Spears is expected to appear in court on May 4.
Shortly after the incident became public, the pop star removed her profile from the social media platform Instagram.

The arrest comes months after the singer was reportedly seen driving erratically following a night out with friends.
In October 2025, Daily Mail published a video showing the singer leaving Red-O restaurant in Thousand Oaks and getting behind the wheel of her black BMW despite several people allegedly attempting to stop her.
Spears rose to global fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with chart-topping hits including “Oops! … I Did It Again” and “Toxic,” becoming one of the most recognizable pop stars of her generation. Authorities have not yet released further details about the latest arrest.
