Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced repatriation flights from Nairobi to Dubai and back, following approval from Dubai Airport management.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the flight from Nairobi to Dubai will operate on March 4, while the return flight from Dubai to Nairobi is set for March 5.
“These are not regular scheduled flights, rather repatriation flights for customers who are citizens or have residency in the UAE to be able to travel out of Nairobi and Vice Versa. We request our customers in Dubai not to proceed to DXB Airport until we have communicated a confirmed departure date and time,” KQ said.
The flights come after the UAE authorities resumed limited operations at Dubai Airport on March 2, allowing only a small number of flights strictly for repatriation purposes.
The decision follows ongoing disruptions in the Middle East caused by the war with Iran, which has forced many airports to close airspace. Only a few flights are currently operating in and out of the region, creating challenges for stranded travelers.
The United States government has urged its citizens to leave the Middle East. US officials said they are coordinating military and charter flights to assist thousands of Americans seeking to exit the region. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reported that over 1,500 Americans requested help, and the State Department has responded to nearly 3,000 calls.
Rubio added that authorities are identifying larger commercial planes, charter flights, and military options to evacuate citizens. Some planes were reportedly turned back due to airspace closures.
Airspace over much of the Middle East remains restricted, including countries neighboring Iran. While some flights have departed from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the situation is evolving, and travelers are urged to monitor government alerts and airline updates.
Continued military strikes and airspace closures are expected to prolong disruptions, leaving travelers stranded in the region.
