Kenya Airways (KQ) has suspended flights to Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates following the closure of the country’s airspace amid escalating military operations involving the United States and Israel against Iran.
In a statement, the national carrier said the temporary suspension was due to safety concerns after threats of possible counter-strikes by Iran targeting US bases in the region.
“We wish to inform our customers that we have temporarily suspended flights to Dubai and Sharjah until further notice due to the UAE airspace closure,” KQ said.
The airline confirmed that flights KQ310 and KQ305, as well as scheduled cargo services, had been cancelled.
The suspension follows an announcement by US President Donald Trump confirming the start of American military strikes on Iran after the collapse of nuclear negotiations in Geneva.
On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched what was described as a joint military offensive against Iran. In a video address, Trump confirmed the start of “major combat operations,” describing the campaign as “massive and ongoing.”
The developments led to airspace closures in parts of the Gulf region, disrupting commercial flight routes, including those serving the UAE.
Kenya Airways apologised for the inconvenience and said affected passengers would be contacted directly.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding. We will communicate and engage directly with affected customers and provide them with the necessary assistance,” the airline said.
The airline added that the situation remains fluid and that further updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
