American rapper Wiz Khalifa has drawn widespread attention online after sharing a video showing how he marked his son Sebastian’s 13th birthday with a playful family tradition known as “birthday licks.”
In a clip posted to social media over the weekend, the “See You Again” hitmaker is seen asking the teenager to raise his hands before delivering a series of light punches to his stomach — one for each year of his age. Khalifa counted aloud before beginning, telling his son to brace himself for thirteen punches.
The rapper, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, encouraged Sebastian to tighten his abdominal muscles and breathe out with each strike. The teenager appeared nervous at first, pleading “Please, please,” before following his father’s instructions and completing the ritual. Khalifa added one final punch “for good luck” before laughing off the moment, while Sebastian appeared relieved the tradition was over.
“We still doin’ birthday licks in this house,” Khalifa captioned the video, adding that his son “took it like a G.”

The tradition, sometimes practiced in families and schools in parts of the United States and elsewhere, involves giving light taps or punches equal to a child’s age to celebrate birthdays. The clip sparked mixed reactions online, with some viewers seeing it as harmless fun and others questioning the practice.
Sebastian is Khalifa’s son with model and media personality Amber Rose, to whom he was married from 2013 to 2016. The rapper also has a young daughter with his partner Aimee Aguilar, whom he has dated since 2019.
The video surfaced during an emotional period for the musician.
Earlier this month, Khalifa announced the death of his father, Laurence W. Thomaz, aged 63. In social media posts, he described his father as a guiding influence and expressed gratitude for the lessons he imparted, saying he passed away peacefully.
Khalifa also shared childhood photos and memories, reflecting on his father’s pride in his career and thanking fans for their support as he mourns the loss.
