A$AP Rocky took on a new role as a teacher after visiting a Harlem elementary school for the latest episode of Celebrity Substitute, where he spent the day mentoring students through music and personal advice.
The rapper, who recently released his fourth studio album Don’t Be Dumb, stopped by PS 125 in Harlem to teach pupils how to write their own rap verses. He also helped the students film a fun remix video titled “Punk Rocky.”
While much of the class was upbeat and creative, the session turned serious when a student named Zaire asked Rocky if he had ever been bullied at school. Rocky told the class that he had experienced bullying himself and used the moment to share advice on handling it.
“Kids can be cruel to each other without even realising it,” Rocky said. “When you get older, you understand what wasn’t right. Don’t let it get to you — things will be okay.”
He encouraged students to build confidence and discipline, suggesting activities such as karate to help deal with bullies both physically and mentally.
Later, Rocky took the children to a recording studio, where they worked on a song titled “IDK.” One student, Nia, impressed the rapper with her confident verse, earning high praise.
“That was beautiful,” Rocky told her. “And you dress really nice too. I might need to hire you for some ghostwriting.”
