as Luke Reimer, 20, from Indian Shores, Florida, and Mary Mich, 20, from Downingtown, Pennsylvania died in the car.
Two students at Franciscan University of Steubenville in the United States were found dead inside a vehicle on Monday, in what authorities believe was a tragic accident.
In a statement, the university’s president, Father Dave Pivonk, said the victims were identified as Luke Reimer, 20, from Indian Shores, Florida, and Mary Mich, 20, from Downingtown, Pennsylvania. The two were discovered inside a car parked near St. Agnes Residence Hall shortly after noon.
The private Catholic university, located in Ohio, said early findings suggest the deaths may be linked to a vehicle exhaust or engine malfunction. Steubenville Police Chief Ken Anderson said investigators do not suspect foul play.

Local media reported that the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office indicated the students died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Police said no further details were released as investigations continue.
“We grieve the loss of two young lives, and our hearts ache for their families, friends, classmates, professors, and all who knew and loved them,” Father Pivonk said. “Please know that we are holding Luke and Mary, and all who mourn them, close in prayer, asking the Lord for comfort, mercy, and peace.”
The university said counseling services have been made available to students at residence halls and at the J.C. Williams Center. A prayer service in memory of the two students was also held on Monday evening.
“I strongly encourage anyone who is struggling, grieving, or in need of support to make use of these resources and to reach out to a trusted friend, faculty member, or staff member,” Father Pivonk added.
